Brisighella Open-Air Oil Museum

The Brisighella open-air oil museum was set up to promote the age-old heritage of olive-growing in the hills around this medieval hamlet near Faenza. The museum consists of an outdoor tour which winds its way along the trails traversing the production area of this PDO olive oil, and allows visitors to discover the oldest olive tree groves as well as the most recent olive oil production sites. The tour includes seven stops complete with information panels. Along the way, visitors can see olive farmers’ huts or “casotti”, nestled among the approximately ninety thousand olive trees from which the prestigious extra virgin olive oil is produced, and the “patriarchs” of this age-old production.
