L'Ambra di Talamello - Fiera del formaggio di fossa
18/11/2018 through 19/11/2018
Talamello

Great party at Talamello, home of the delicious cheese matured in the ditches dug into the sandstone rock, as the ancient tradition introduced in the Middle Ages. A delicacy not to be missed, defined by the poet Tonino Guerra as "The Amber of Talamello", because of the extraordinary color that the sandstone take on when the pits reopen.
In November in Talamello, a charming village in the heart of Montefeltro, the municipal administration and producers invite all gourmets to the Fossa Cheese Fair, the Amber of Talamello, an appointment that is renewed year after year and which has now become a pivotal event of the autumn feltresco. On the two Sundays of November, the delightful village will in fact become a real terrace of taste, from which you can also admire the evocative landscape of Montefeltro.
The fair will be full of surprises, initiatives and events, among which the flavors will stand out. In the stands managed by the Pro Loco, as well as in the restaurants of the center, you will find tasty and original menus based on fossa cheese. As in every edition, "gastronomic twinning" will be proposed with other typical and traditional Italian productions. Meetings, conferences and shows will enrich the days of the fair as usual. Ma Talamello offers many other resources ... In fact, in addition to preserving the pits that preserve the unrepeatable taste of cheese, the small village is also a treasure chest of art, due to the presence of important works such as the Crucifix of the Giotto School (Giovanni da Rimini, 1300); the 'Cella', adjacent to the cemetery, recently restored, frescoed, in 1437 by Antonio Alberti from Ferrara; the Gualtieri Museum-Pinacoteca "The splendor of the real", consisting of the 42 paintings that the Italo-Francesche painter of Talamellian origins Fernando Gualtieri donated to the Municipality. A little treasure not to be missed.
